Layla Doueidi is a Syrian-Lebanese interdisciplinary olfactory artist whose practice draws on personal archives, collective histories and human encounters through research and experimental methods. Doueidi uses sensory experience and methods of archiving as a system of observation, translation, reflection and narrative. Inspired by her father’s lifework as a perfumer, scent works as a channel to invite engagement with memory beyond the visual. She works across soft sculpture, scented portraiture, mixed-media photography, writing and installation.
